Do people from Jeonju not eat bibimbap? Locals’ favorite bibimbap spot in Jeonju: Han Kook Jib, Baeksong Hall.

Have you heard that people from Jeonju don’t eat bibimbap? If that were true, Jeonju’s reputation for bibimbap couldn’t have lasted until now. Moreover, there are more than just one or two long-established restaurants in Jeonju famous for bibimbap. I will confidently introduce a bibimbap restaurant in Jeonju that’s loved even by the locals.   – “Do people from Jeonju not eat bibimbap? Locals’ favorite bibimbap spot in Jeonju: Han Kook Jib, Baeksong Hall.” –   | Han Kook Jib, a bibimbap restaurant that has been in the family for three generations since 1952. Open daily from 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM. Break time from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Parking available. Han Kook Jib was the first in South Korea to sell Jeonju bibimbap. The secret includes a hot pepper paste made from special sea salt from Gomso, a recipe passed down through three generations. Han Kook Jib is certified as a century-old store and is a must-visit among Jeonju’s famous eateries, frequented by celebrities. Former presidents and influential figures like Lee Byung-chul, chairman of Samsung, have visited, and since 1979, it has been housed in various malls such as Lotte Department Store, Hyundai Department Store, and Lotte Mall,

FEEL KOREA IN JEONJU

Let me introduce Jeonju Cafe with a good atmosphere recommended by locals.

Korea’s 2025, the Year of the Blue Snake, has begun. For those who plan to visit Jeonju in this new year, here are three cafes recommended by Jeonju residents.   | WORKERBEE (House of B) <In the vicinity of Hanok Village> The first place I’d like to introduce is WORKERBEE, a honey-specialty café near Hanok Village. WORKERBEE is so popular that they say it comes to mind when you think of Jeonju. Its location is on the main road next to Pungnammun Square in the direction of Nambu Traditional Market. You won’t miss it.   As you see in the photo, they offer a variety of honey products. Jeonju New Central Market. “Discover the rice cake alley and market snacks.” Everyone holds precious childhood memories that bring back feelings of nostalgia, right? As Lunar New Year approaches, I find myself reminiscing about visits to traditional markets, holding my mother’s hand. These markets featured grandmothers selling herbs, uncles offering fresh fish, and shops where steaming noodle soups were served. In my childhood, the vibrant tents of Jeonju New Central Market made it a place rich with Jeonju’s unique traditions and character. A must-visit spot in Jeonju, the Jeonju New Central Market is counted among Jeonju’s four major traditional markets, alongside Nambu Market, Moraenae Market, and Dongbu Market. It is encircled by Jeonju Guesthouse and Guesthouse Street, which are full of interesting sights. Jeonju New Central Market has evolved significantly

If you plan a trip to Jeonju, explore Jeonju Zoo and DreamLand filled with joy!

I visited Jeonju Zoo and its amusement park DreamLand where people of all ages could find pleasure even in the cold winter. This photo shows the entrance of Jeonju Zoo, the third largest zoo in South Korea, following those in Yongin Everland and Seoul Grand Park. In front of the entrance, a spacious parking lot is available and multiple city buses to the zoo are also in operation, so this place is easily accessible during Jeonju tour. Before entering, you need to purchase an entry ticket at the ticket booth. The admission fees are quite affordable: 3,000 won for adults, 2,000 won for teenagers, and 1,000 won for children. Although Ipchun, the onset of spring, has passed, a chilly winter scenery is still noticeable in Jeonju Zoo. However, as spring

Deokjin Park of Jeonju, the Secret Venue for Tracing Legacy of the Donghak Peasant Revolution.

Today, I embark on a journey to Deokjin Park, where I once knew simply as a recreational area for Jeonju citizens, seeking to explore and learn about its historical trails. Deokjin Park is a representative healing spot for local people of Jeonju and located near Jeonbuk National University. Before starting my journey, I’d like to explore the significance of the Donghak Peasant Movement and the role of Jeonju as a cradle for the uprising. In the late Joseon Dynasty, owing to incompetence of Emperor Gojong and abuse of power and corruption of Empress Myeongseong coupled with incessant foreign invasions, the lives of common people became more deteriorated.   Against the backdrop of this, the Donghak Peasant Revolution broke out when the peasant-centered rebellion developed in two stages in 1894. The
