Jeonju Travel: The Allure of Pungnam-dong – ‘Jaman Mural Village’

I encountered a mural village that conjured up my childhood memories in Pungnam-dong, Jeonju. One spring day with blooming flowers, I ran into Jaman Mural Village while taking a stroll around Jeonju Hanok Village. Enchanted by the colorful murals from the entrance and the attractive neighborhood scenery that brought back my old memories, I took a walk around. In Jaman Mural Village, mural artworks that blend well with the surrounding environment have been created around 40 houses situated along the alleyways. These murals featuring various dynamic themes such as nature, flowers, and scenes from fairy tales make me smile when I just look at them. I took some research on Jaman Mural Village and found out that this town was created by refugees who settled here during the Korean War.
