Walk the Silver Grass Trail Along Jeonjuchun River

It feels like that winter is almost here in the morning, but during the daytime the temperature is still nice for strolling outside and feeling the gentle autumn breeze. Let’s walk the Jeonjuchun River trail, where you can enjoy nature in the middle of the city.

From Ssajeondari Bridge to Jeonju Ecomuseum

Jeonjuchun River winds along the perimeters of Jeonju Hanok Village. If you’re lucky, you might spot some otters in the water. But walking the trail along Jeonjuchun River is more popular due to the autumn silver grass.

I started from Ssajeondari Bridge. The afternoon sun was warm enough. The silver grass swaying in the autumn breeze was shining brightly.

The Jeonjuchun River trail in autumn is one of the most photogenic spots in Jeonju thanks to the silver grass. More people were riding bikes on the trail than walking.

Can you distinguish between a reed and a silver grass?

I overheard people talking and was surprised that many people still can’t tell between a reed (“galdae” in Korean) and a silver grass (“eoksae” in Korean). Let’s find out the difference between the two.

Reeds usually grow along the river. Silver grasses usually grow in the fields and mountains. If you look closely enough, it’s not difficult to tell the difference. A reed is taller (2~3m) with purple-ish ears. A silver grass is smaller (1~2m) with silver ears.

Return home with beautiful Autumn memories from the silver grass trail.

A return walk from Ssajeondari Bridge to Jeonju Ecomuseum only takes half an hour. But the trail is too beautiful this time of the year to just walk. I’m sure you’ll take out your camera several times to freeze the romantic autumn moment. You may also rent a bike at a bike rental shop run by the city.

The silver grass trail along Jeonjuchun River is closer to many of the most popular attractions in Jeonju. If you walk the silver grass trail in hanbok through the autumn breeze, that’ll be a terrific ‘instagrammable’ moment.

I think, with the ‘sea’ of silver grass, the Jeonjuchun River trail is the most beautiful in autumn. Walking the trail along the river may seem a natural and everyday thing, but charming enough to indulge in a romantic mood.

If you want to escape from the bustling streets of Jeonju Hanok Village, walk the silver grass trail along Jeonjuchun River. You’ll return home with beautiful memories.
