Instagrammable Jeonju Hyanggyo (Confucian School) at Autumn

The end of this year’s autumn is near. But there’s still time to take instagrammable photos at Jeonju Hanok Village. Today, I’ll show you how to take the autumn photos at the Hanok Village that will get you the most likes. First, head to Jeonju Hyanggyo (Confucian School), covered in red and yellow leaves.

The history of Jeonju Hyanggyo

Jeonju Hyanggyo is located in Jeonju Hanok Village and dating several hundred years back to Joseon Dynasty. It was a Confucian school preparing students for the dynasty’s civil servant exam. Since 1983, the Sunday School at Jeonju Hyanggyo has been teaching ethics, morality, calligraphy, and manners.

Autumn Color of Jeonju Hyanggyo

Jeonju Hyanggyo has huge gingko trees that are easily a few hundred years old. The gingko tree symbolises the incorruptible spirit of Joseon Dynasty’s Confucian scholars. Every autumn, the gingko trees’ deep yellow carpet the courtyards and black tiled roofs of Jeonju Hyanggyo. I’ll introduce the most recommended instagrammable spots here.

The most instagrammable spots at Jeonju Hyanggyo

The first photo spot is to the left and right of Ilwolmun Gate, among the huge gingko trees.

This is the most popular spot for the visitors, fascinated by the carpet of gingko leaves and the sun shining through the trees. I recommend throwng an armful of the gingko leaves over your head, as if its raining yellow gingko leaves. I also recommend visiting between 17h and 18h to take photo of the sky glowing in red behind the trees, the walls and the black-tiled roofs.

The second photo spot is Myungryundang.

There is a huge gingko tree in the courtyard of Myungryundang. The chance of taking a very elegant photo in this spot rises when you’re wearing hanbok (Korean traditional costume).

The third photo spot is the alleyway of Jeonju Hynaggyo.

Here, you may include in the frame the yellow leaves scattered on the black tiles and the gingko, maple, and bamboo trees rising over the walls. It seemed as if I’ve just entered an old Korean folk painting.
