Two Flavorful Korean Restaurants in Jeonju Offering Both GreatValue and Satisfaction.

  •  Sambyeoljip: Korean buffet by day, Korean BBQ by night.

In these times of high interest rates and rising prices, you really feel the pinch especially when eating out.

But here’s a diner in Jeonju where you can enjoy a main serving along with more than 10 side dishes and even dessert, all for under 10,000 won per person, so I checked it out myself.

Known as a local favorite for meat lovers in Samcheon-dong, Sambyeoljip is said to be the owner’s ambitious third restaurant, following ‘Woongine Snack’ and ‘Jungsanjip’ in Junghwasan-dong.

This restaurant which opened in August in 2024 has already become a popular spot among locals and you may have to wait if you visit around lunchtime.

The menu might vary slightly depending on the day of the week, but they have a set schedule like spicy pork bulgogi on Monday, a hearty pork kimchi stew on Tuesday, pork cutlet on Wednesday and spicy braised chicken on Thursday.

Some people coordinate their visit depending on their appetite.

Being as a Korean BBQ restaurant in the evening, their green onion kimchi and pickled chili peppers were exceptional in taste, so my friend who went with me even asked if the side dishes were for sale, but unfortunately, they weren’t.

Although being a newly opened establishment, this spot really showed several ‘key points’ thanks to the owner’s years of experience in the restaurant business.

First, you can see lots of handwritten signatures completely covered on the one wall. A closer look revealed they were left by neighbors and regulars as mementos.

There’s also a self-serve bibimbap section where you can create your own version of Jeonju dish.

With a variety of seasoned vegetables and fresh salad that change daily, it was easy to make a bowl just the way I liked it, so I found myself eating more than usual.

On the day I visited, the mains were spicy pork and fish cutlet.

Both dishes tasted mild enough for even kids to enjoy.

  • From Side Dishes to Korean Buffet, a Timeless Favorite: Seonhee’s Korean Buffet.

Started as a side dish shop due to the owner’s incredible cooking skills, ‘Seonhee’s Korean Buffet’ has become a well-known local favorite for over 10 years.

The sign itself shows the passage of time.

As this place is tucked between residential and commercial buildings, parking is very challenging during lunch hours.

In case of visiting, mind your parking.

One of the great things about this place is the solo dining zone, so you don’t need to feel embarrassed when eating alone.

All the side dishes offered that day were freshly prepared with marked place of origin, making the meal even more palatable.

The staff also cleared the tables and immediately reset new utensil.

Some customers even purchased side dishes to take home after finishing their meal.

Especially the restaurant’s signature dishes, braised spicy chicken, curry, and fish cutlets are constantly replenished from the kitchen so they never run out.

For those who prefer noodles over rice, there’s even a separate thin noodle soup section.

And after your meal, you absolutely must try dessert: sikhye, a traditional sweet rice drink.

They say some people even visit just to taste the delicious sikhye, and it’s also sold in large take-home bottles for many customers who wish to purchase it.

For a price under 10,000 won per person, you can enjoy more than ten delicious Jeonju side dishes that are sure to capture your heart.

With this budget-friendly and soul-satisfying Korean buffet, savor a hearty meal.
