Better at Night: Hanbyeokdang, Omokdae, and Cheongyeonru Pavilions

We’re currently in the middle of summer. Today, I’ll introduce three great spots to spend summer nights in Jeonju Hanok Village. Hanbyeokdang, Omokdae, and Cheongyeonru are nice during the daytime, but even nicer at night, with the cool breeze and beautiful night view.

Hanbyeokdang

To visit Hanbyeokdang or Omokdae, you can walk across Jeonju Hanok Village or park your car at the Jeonju Hanok Village car park. It says the car park is open from 10:00 to 18:30, but it stays open after 18:30.

Don’t cross the Hanbyeokgyo Bridge but go under the bridge. The moon is so bright tonight.

Under the lighting, the atmosphere surrounding the old pavilion at night is somewhat mysterious and elegant. The cool breeze was flowing from the Jeonjucheon River next to the pavilion. Visitors can enter the pavilion, but shoes must be taken off. Also, there may be some mosquitoes attracted to the lighting.

Next to the pavilion is Jeonju Hanbyeok Culture Center. A traditional comedy show was taking place in the outdoor theater.

I see the beautifully lit Omokgyo Bridge in the distance. But my next destination is the Omokdae Pavilion.

Omokdae

Omokdae can be accessed from Jeonju Hanok Village or from the Hanok Village car park. I took the route from the car park. I also suggest visiting the Jaman Mural Village, which is connected via an overpass.

Omokdae is only 5 to 10 minutes’ walk up the stairs. The cool night breeze sweeps the heat away. I took off shoes to enter the pavilion. There were already people inside, probably because Omokdae is rather large.

Sitting on the wooden floor is surprisingly cooling down and refreshing. I stared at the floor and the eaves for a while. It seemed to comfort my mind.

Namcheongyo and Cheongyeonru

I looked down at Jeonju Hanok Village. The lightings made the black tiled roofs of the hanok buildings almost glitter.

Some people were resting in the Cheongyeonru Pavilion and others were enjoying a small street concert over the bridge.

Cheongyeonru, a large pavilion built in the middle of the bridge, is quite popular among both the visitors and the locals. It’s very accessible from the Hanok Village, and the pavilion is quite wide.

The moonlight was beautiful tonight. I also enjoyed the cool breeze blowing over the river. This is just the right place to visit on summer nights.

If you’re having difficulties sleeping at night or just wanting to cool down with a night stroll, I recommend exploring Jeonju Hanok Village at night.

Omokdae and Imokdae are located within a stone’s throw away from the Hanok village. Just a short climb of stairs will get you to Omokdae first, which offers a stunning view of Jeonju’s hanok village. We also stumbled by a 100-year old cafe at the foot of Omokdae! Very impressed with the history of the city here.

Hanbyeokdang is also a good spot to enjoy the cool breeze flowing over the river.

The beauty of all these pavilions in Jeonju city is worth seeing. But my pavilion of choice is Chongyeonru. Its beauty is worth seeing at night, the view of all these pavilions amazes me, I have always been participating in the festivals of Korea, my childhood passed through these magnificent views, the beauty of all these pavilions must be seen by all of us once. And the moon becomes even brighter during the night. At night under the lights, the atmosphere around the old pavilion is somewhat mysterious and delightful. This is what makes all these pavilions special. Most of the people come here to see this. The cool breeze blowing from the Jeonjucheon River beside the pavilion tells us the beauty of nature. You can enter the pavilion without hesitation but you must take off your shoes while going inside.

It was the first trip with my friends. We went to Jeonju Hanok Village.

There we went around wearing hanbok, which we usually didn’t wear very often. Also, there were retro-style school uniforms which made everyone around them feel as if they had gone back to the past.

Also, I had Jeonju Bibimbap which is famous but I have never tried before. I could know the reason of famous. It was very delicious.

And I visited dessert shops, and the desserts that used traditional Korean food were very impressive. Especially, I recommend you to try JeonJu Choco Pie one by one because it has a variety of flavors compared to the past. Personally, chocolate pie with injeolmi was the my best.

I wanna to experience the night view from the Cheongyeonru bridge. It’s a good time form the pavilion and Namcheongyo is historically known as the place in Jeonju to enjoy both stunning view of the mountains and the cool breeze blowing over the river.

the pavilion is usually frequented by the locals. But after sunset, it’s mostly the visitors from Jeonju Hanok Village that enjoy the night view of from the bridge. It’s nice to see people having a good time on the pavilion.

It’s been a particularly hot summer. But I want to remind you, this summer will never return. However, if you had a good time at Jeonju Hanok Village, the Jeonjuchun River, and the Cheongyeonru Pavilion this year, surely you won’t regret the passing of this summer. You have a whole summer to take a dip at the Jeonjuchun River and enjoy the summer night at the Cheongyeonru Pavilion!

    I love 💟 Jeonju City

There is no better activity and place in the world than Jeonju. Jeonju City is famous for the best places in the world. You can see many old kings era pavilions here. For example, in the Hanok village of Jeonju city, you can see the Rang Wee Rang Pavilions Hanbyokdang, Omokade, and Chongyeonru which are famous in the world. Their beauty is unmatched. At this time most countries are currently in the middle of summer. And this season is the best time to visit these pavilions. So without delay, embark on a trip to Jeonju and enjoy the new atmosphere and new activities of Jeonju. I would like to spend summer nights in Jeonju Hanok village and spend time with my family at my favorite Hanbyokdang. I love the cool breeze and the beautiful night view here. At night, the beauty of all these pavilions increases even more.

Dear, @team😊😊😊 all the places are very definitely and enjoyable i want to enjoy at all places.but i firstly want to enjoy at Hanbyeokdang.
This exquisite pavilion was built in 1404 by Choe Dam, a notable figure who assisted in the founding of the Joseon dynasty. It got its name, ‘Hanbyeok-dang’, since the water running beneath the pavilion was very cool and white. Many poets and literati visited Hanbyeokdang. It was well noted throughout the Honam region as a scenic spot for reciting poetry and viewing scenery.

    💝💝Hyee @Jeonju all about korea 🤩🤩🤩
I want to spent my time at the beautiful Jeonju hanok village and the pavilion which are so awesome.
like the quietness here. When I went there was no one. I stood in the pavilion and looked down at the Jeonju River below through the golden leaves. How pleasant it would be to imagine the ancients enjoying the scenery here! It should be quieter here before, right? Now that there is a highway that crosses the Jeonju River below, the sound of cars is constantly undermining the artistic conception here.
