Moreover, there are more than just one or two long-established restaurants in Jeonju famous for bibimbap.

I will confidently introduce a bibimbap restaurant in Jeonju that’s loved even by the locals.

| Han Kook Jib, a bibimbap restaurant that has been in the family for three generations since 1952.

Han Kook Jib was the first in South Korea to sell Jeonju bibimbap.
The secret includes a hot pepper paste made from special sea salt from Gomso, a recipe passed down through three generations.

Han Kook Jib is certified as a century-old store and is a must-visit among Jeonju’s famous eateries, frequented by celebrities.

Former presidents and influential figures like Lee Byung-chul, chairman of Samsung, have visited, and since 1979, it has been housed in various malls such as Lotte Department Store, Hyundai Department Store, and Lotte Mall, continuing the legacy of Jeonju bibimbap.
At the entrance, you can view Han Kook Jib’s history through numerous awards and event photos.

The restaurant is full from the morning.
Once seated as directed, your order will be taken.

I ordered Yukhoe (raw beef) bibimbap and Jeonju bibimbap.

Sometimes the gochujang (hot pepper paste) in bibimbap is so strong that you can’t taste the vegetables, but here it’s perfectly balanced. It’s one of my favorite places for bibimbap.
Also, the refreshing bean sprout soup and mildly seasoned side dishes complemented the bibimbap well.

Baeksong Hall is located near Jeonju City Hall.
It is popular with both locals and tourists; even on weekends, the reservation list is full.
Typically, those with reservations head to the second floor, while walk-ins are seated on the first floor.

At the entrance of Baeksong Hall, you can see seven Blue Ribbon stickers.

This place exudes a strong local vibe.
The old interior is full of charm.
Here, you don’t need to wait to be seated or to place an order; you can just sit down upon arriving.
You can order whenever the staff comes around. The sign stating ‘Order quickly and your food will come out quickly!’ adds a warm and familiar touch.

The food is served within 5 minutes of ordering. They serve it using rice cooked in a traditional pot, directly onto your plate.
They also offer the plate first so you can take pictures.

A bibimbap at Baeksong Hall costs 10,000 won, which is remarkably affordable.
It is rare to find a restaurant that offers bibimbap with side dishes, raw beef, pot rice, and scorched rice all for just 10,000 KRW.
The constant flow of people clearly shows why the restaurant is so popular.

The scorched rice served as dessert has the comforting taste of something my mother would make.
Dining here feels like a nostalgic journey.
