Top three picks for cold and sweet summer dessert cafes in Jeonju: Inshuttle, Homedance, Black Valentine.

Recently, with the ongoing heatwave, many Koreans have been carrying iced Americanos, finding them to be a real oasis.
I usually don’t drink coffee, so on hot days like these, I often find myself looking for cool desserts like ice cream.

Today, I’m excited to introduce three refreshing and sweet summer desserts that will brighten your day.

“Sweet and cold summer desserts.
Top three dessert cafes in Jeonju.
  Inshuttle, Homedance, Black Valentine.”

| Jeonju Dessert Cafe Inshuttle features “Mango Sago.”

Have you heard of the dessert called “Mango Sago”?
It’s a dessert that became popular on social media and YouTube, typically made in Hong Kong or Southeast Asia. It combines mango, condensed milk, and sago—a type of starch ball—into a delightful fruit cocktail.

Recently, its popularity has led to it being featured occasionally in other major franchise outlets.
The place I visited today, Inshuttle, has been offering Mango Sago since early spring, making it the first cafe in Jeonju to do so!

Inshuttle also sells Strawberry Sago, bread pudding, and Dubai Chocolate, among other items.
I was hoping to buy another popular item, Dubai Chocolate, but unfortunately, it was sold out when I visited.

The cafe’s interior is predominantly white and tidy, creating a cozy atmosphere that welcomes everyone.

One advantage of Cafe Inshuttle is its location in Hyoja-dong, near the Jeonbuk Provincial Office, which makes it a great spot for office workers to visit after lunch.

They’ve also created several photo zones by placing decorative elements strategically.
Personally, I found the fluffy, cloud-like rugs adorable.

The Mango Sago I ordered was served quickly!
Although I am not particularly fond of mangoes, I tried the Mango Sago without many expectations and found it surprisingly delicious, almost devouring it.

Digging in with a spoon brings up the chewy sago pearls.
It was delightful eating the sweet mangoes that had been marinated in condensed milk.
If I had to describe a similar taste, it would be similar to banana-flavored milk mixed with condensed milk, although the aroma is different.

The Mango Sago tasted just as I imagined, which made it even more delicious!
I also got some packed to share with my parents.
I highly recommend this to anyone who loves mangoes.

| Jeonju Dessert Cafe Homedance – Bingsu

The second place I’ll introduce is renowned for its bingsu (Korean shaved ice).
Do you think all bingsu tastes the same?
I used to think so too, but Cafe Homedance isn’t just good for bingsu; it also has a delightful ambiance.

I was told that the bingsu menu changes with the seasons.
When I visited in July, they were offering cho-dang corn bingsu and a limited edition pudding bingsu.

Located inside a guesthouse, Cafe Homedance was a bit hard to find, but once inside, the cafe was surprisingly spacious and offered a great sense of openness.

One thing I really appreciated is that they offer bingsu servings for one person.
Besides bingsu, they also had granita and parfait available. I wanted to try them all, but I was too full and just ordered bingsu.

The cafe has large windows, making it a pleasant place to look outside and chat while eating.
The single seats by the window also seemed great for guests visiting alone.

After ordering, I took a good look around the cafe and discovered these cute miniatures and unique merchandise only available at Cafe Homedance!
The cafe is filled with charming touches, including its own merchandise.

There was also a wall full of books, and it was indicated that all could be read.
Looking at the books, I recognized some from a recent independent book fair in Jeonju, so I quickly picked one up and started reading.

Here are the cho-dang corn bingsu and the limited edition pudding almond bingsu I ordered.

The cho-dang corn bingsu included cornflakes, which added a delightful crunchy texture. It was described as “not too sweet,” a phrase often considered the highest praise for a dessert in Korea. It seemed perfectly suited to adult tastes.

Pudding a la mode is a Japanese-style Western dessert.
This dish consists of custard pudding topped with various fruits on a plate.
The flavor reminded me of ice cream, complete with a layer of sweet custard syrup at the bottom.

The cafe provided blankets and cushions for those who felt cold, and I noticed some guests who came alone to read a book.
Thanks to its warm wood-tone ambiance and unique seasonal bingsu, Cafe Homedance is a place I find myself frequently revisiting.

| Jeonju Dessert Cafe Black Valentine – Parfait

The final summer dessert spot I visited is Black Valentine, located in Inhu-dong.
Unlike the previous cafes near workplaces or bustling areas, this cafe, located in a residential neighborhood, had a variety of fancy desserts.

True to its name, ‘Black Valentine,’ the cafe’s interior was tastefully decorated in black.
Their offerings included everything from adorable cookies to financiers and bread pudding.

One particularly unique item was the non-alcoholic vodka slushie.
They also offered panna cotta and coffee jelly, which I enjoy, so I decided to take some home.

They featured Basque cheesecake as well, but the item I tried here was the parfait.
A parfait is a dessert served in a tall glass, filled with ice cream and a generous amount of cookies.

I’ve had a fondness for parfaits since middle school.
In fact, preparing a parfait is quite labor-intensive, making it one of the least favorite desserts for cafe staff to make.
That’s why I haven’t seen many places offering them lately, but I was thrilled to find that I could enjoy one here.

The place was elegantly decorated in black and green, creating a sophisticated vibe.
Mood lighting was strategically placed at various tables, enhancing the interior design.
The most charming feature I noticed was fish swimming in the plants grown hydroponically.

At first, you might think the cafe is small, but actually, it extends into another room-like space at the back.
It appears to have been converted from a regular house, as the sliding doors throughout give it a cozy, neighborhood cafe feel.

The pudding parfait I ordered was a vanilla parfait topped with mini strawberry puddings.

It perfectly matched the parfaits from my memories, complete with cute cream, cherries, pudding, and long cookies.
The taste of the vanilla ice cream mixed with strawberry syrup was familiar and delightfully sweet.

Also, it reminded me of coffee jelly I had enjoyed abroad a few days prior. I was so pleased to find it here that I packed some to take home despite being full.
Cafe Black Valentine even provided a coupon stamp, inviting me to come back.

Today, I’ve shared the top summer dessert menus from my favorite personal cafes.
I believe it’s important to maintain a healthy diet during the hot summer days when your appetite might decrease.

I hope these cool desserts help rejuvenate your tired body and mind, and if you’re nearby, I recommend visiting these three cafes.
