Perhaps it’s Christmas?
As the Christmas season approaches, trees and decorations that create a festive atmosphere start appearing everywhere.

I attended the Christmas tree lighting ceremony and worship service at Jeonju Ogeori Culture Plaza.
The event started at 5:30 PM on Saturday, November 30, 2024.

Despite the cold weather, blankets, cushions, and hand warmers were provided at each seat as a warm gift.

The annual Christmas tree lighting event is hosted by the Jeonju Christian Federation and Jeonbuk CBS at Ogeori Culture Plaza.

The 2024 Christmas tree lighting worship was conducted in four parts: pre-event, worship, congratulatory messages, and lighting ceremony, lasting about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

The pre-event featured a performance by the Worship and Praise Department of Jeonju University.
This was a time to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas with beautiful praise.

During the worship service, many people gathered together.
After the pastor’s message and the singing by the Peter Men’s Chorus, everyone sang “Joy to the World, the Lord Has Come.”

At 6:30 PM, the lighting switch was pressed, and the Christmas tree was lit.
As the crowd cheered, they shouted “Merry Christmas,” followed by applause.

The grand Christmas tree marking the season was constructed to be 20 meters tall and 6 meters in diameter.
Looking up at the changing lights from below, the tree appears majestic.

The Christmas tree lighting worship event concluded with everyone singing carols along with the choir.

Ogeori Culture Plaza was not only home to a large Christmas tree but was also beautifully decorated with various lights, fully immersing visitors in the Christmas spirit.

Ogeori Culture Plaza became a street of lights, capturing the attention of passersby.

The atmosphere was rich and beautiful, sufficient to evoke the Christmas spirit.

Many citizens took commemorative photos against the backdrop of the Christmas tree, embracing the festive atmosphere.

The dome, resembling a space station from a movie, is a popular spot for children.

With tables and chairs available, it’s a nice spot to enjoy a cup of coffee and soak in the atmosphere by the Christmas tree.

A child commented that “the lights look like stars, and it feels like catching them would bring good luck,” which brought smiles.

Visitors to Ogeori Culture Plaza created special memories by taking photos in front of the colorful nighttime sculptures.
