“Pung ja’s “Ddoganzip” Jeonju Episode
A favorite among locals!
Pork Master, Big House Blood Sausage”
| A place visited once can be found anywhere, but a place visited more than twice truly stands out!
Pung ja’s reality show “Ddoganzip,” featuring places worth revisiting, becomes a hit channel, quickly attracting an average of 3 million views per upload.
Unlike the visually striking eateries on Instagram, we introduce everyday dining spots frequented with friends, family, or partners, which quickly become popular topics of discussion.
Even if you don’t usually watch YouTube, the unexpected choices during my first visit to Jeonju disappointed many local food enthusiasts, now known as the “Ddoganzip Jeonju Incident.”
Carrying the hopes of many Jeonju residents, I revisited and personally checked out two establishments featured on Ddoganzip.
| Pung ja’s Ddoganzip – a nostalgic eatery from our school days, featuring Pork Master.
A nostalgic spot where, after exams, we used to pool our allowances to enjoy marinated barbecue and rice expertly fried by the owner!
Having been in business for 27 years, the establishment shows signs of age everywhere.
I hadn’t visited since high school, and this time, instead of the usual method of cooking with the seasoning on top, it was prepared and served to us.
• Location: 49, Jeonjugaeksa 3-gil, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si, Jeonbuk-do
• Operating hours: Open daily from 11:00 AM to 4:00 AM
• Parking: Available at Jeonju Cinema parking lot (1 hour free)
Even though prices have increased over time, they remain quite cheap given the current inflation rates.
A single serving of 180g is priced at just 8,500 KRW!
Recently, the price increased by 500 KRW due to the rising cost of vegetables.
At first glance, it might seem there are only a few tables, but deeper inside, you’ll find over 10 tables which provide an easy dining experience with children, featuring both seating and standing options.
The self-service bar is a great feature, allowing you to pick up any additional side dishes you need.
The arrival of the marinated bulgogi, topped with garlic, green onions, and spicy peppers and wrapped in lettuce, recreates the delightful tastes of my student days!
However, your visit to Pork Master isn’t complete without trying the K-dessert fried rice, right?
While the owner’s old performance of serving rice bowls with aluminum foil is no longer seen, the meal remains so enjoyable that you’ll want to scrape the bowl clean.
Although it’s not a fancy restaurant and my tastes have changed, I hope it continues to thrive for many more years, keeping those memories alive.
| Pung ja’s Ddoganzip – Big House Blood Sausage is truly a local treasure.
In a city like Jeonju, known for its many favorites for blood sausage soup, Big House Blood Sausage stands out as a surprising favorite!
Jeonbuk Hyundai player Park Jin-seop often visits, and on game days at the World Cup Stadium, it’s recognized as a local hotspot, always filled with fans.
Despite the menu’s frequent turnover, I didn’t expect to wait, yet it remained crowded even after lunchtime, which resulted in some waiting.
• Location: 4, Deok-yong 4-gil, Deokjin-gu, Jeonju.
• Operating hours: Mon–Sat from 09:00 AM to 10:00 PM / Sun from 09:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
• Closed on: The 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month.
• Parking: Private parking available.
The menu is standard, but their special baby-friendly soup is a standout feature.
The baby-friendly soup is uniquely prepared with the rice rolled up, and it does not include any chili paste or green onions.
The blood sausage soup here has an irresistible charm, with a sauce that includes onions and perilla powder to balance the richness of the intestines and blood sausages.
You can comfortably help yourself to any additional side dishes and chives from the self-service bar.
The blood sausage soup includes two pieces each of stuffed blood sausage and glass noodle blood sausage, making it quite hearty!
Do you see the pickled onions on top of the blood sausage? That’s the real ‘kick’!
If clean and odor-free blood sausage soup is to your liking, you’ll find this place delightful.
I used to frequently visit ‘Popeye Blood Sausage,’ just a block away, but now there’s another top spot on my list.
This concludes the reviews of two places from Pung ja’s Ddoganzip that were recently featured on YouTube.
If you have any places in Jeonju that you’ve visited more than twice, please share them!
