Must-Visit Places in Jeonju Hanok Village – Craft Masterpiece Street and Four Artisan Workshops, Yedam Tea House
Today, I will introduce Craft Masterpiece Street in Jeonju Hanok Village. It is one of the must-visit places when visiting the village.
This place is not widely known, so many people have not discovered it. You can take beautiful photos in the peaceful alleys.
You can also visit various traditional artisan workshops, where you can view or experience different types of traditional crafts.
Let’s now explore Craft Masterpiece Street, four artisan workshops, and a traditional tea house with a great view of Gyeonggijeon Shrine.
“Must-Visit Place in Jeonju Hanok Village – Craft Masterpiece Street”
Craft Masterpiece Street is located on Taejo-ro in Jeonju Hanok Village, just past the beautiful Jeondong Cathedral. As you follow Taejo-ro, you will reach Craft Masterpiece Street.
This is the entrance to Craft Masterpiece Street, located in front of the Jeonju Craft Exhibition Hall.
Compared to the busy Taejo-ro and Eunhaeng-ro, this area is quiet.
In Craft Masterpiece Street, you will find workshops lined up offering various crafts such as traditional Korean paper dolls, leather crafts, traditional knots, and ceramics. You can explore the artworks or participate in hands-on experiences.
When you enter the alley, you are greeted by a giant robot, Taekwon V, which is taller than an average person. It is a perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely walk along the traditional hanok alleys.
The hanok alleyways of Craft Masterpiece Street often evoke nostalgia, bringing back childhood memories.
Compared to the crowded and busy Taejo-ro and Eunhaeng-ro in Jeonju Hanok Village, Craft Masterpiece Street offers a quieter path where the essence of Hanok Village can truly be felt.
This photo shows a tourist from Germany whom I encountered on Craft Masterpiece Street.
Seeing them joyfully strolling through the alleys in traditional Korean attire was a heartwarming and contagious experience.
Must-Visit Place in Jeonju Hanok Village – Craft Masterpiece Street “Park Geum-sook’s Traditional Korean Paper Doll Studio”
The first place to introduce on Craft Masterpiece Street is Park Geum-sook’s Traditional Korean Paper Doll Studio, managed by the master hanji artist, Park Geum-sook.
Here, you can enjoy looking at playful paper dolls, and there is also an opportunity to try making hanji dolls yourself.
A wide range of paper dolls is displayed, and as you admire the detailed expressions of the dolls, you might find yourself smiling without even realizing it.
There is also a cute white poodle made of hanji, displayed with great charm.
During my visit to the studio, a hands-on activity was taking place where participants were creating hand mirrors using hanji and mother-of-pearl.
By carefully attaching mother-of-pearl and hanji to both sides of the mirror, a stunning hand mirror was completed.
Must-Visit Place in Jeonju Hanok Village – Craft Masterpiece Street “KingK Leather Workshop”
In front of the Traditional Paper Doll Workshop, there is the “KingK Leather Workshop.”
This workshop displays and sells a wide range of leather crafts, including cute and intricate leather accessories and bags.
The wallets on display have elegant colors and designs that rival those of luxury brands.
The checkered bags in yellow and red are also very stylish!
Must-Visit Place in Jeonju Hanok Village – Craft Masterpiece Street “CERANURI”
Right next to KingK Leather Workshop is a ceramic workshop called “CERANURI.”
At this workshop, you can see and purchase various ceramic crafts. You can also participate in activities such as making mini ceramic hanoks, ceramic flower shoes, and traditional pattern ceramic
This is a ceramic doll on display at CERANURI.
The detailed expression of the noblewoman in traditional hanbok is particularly striking.
These ceramics beautifully capture the unique characteristics of Jeonju Hanok Village.
Here is a ceramic brooch exhibited at CERANURI. Both the colors and designs are stunning.
The colors and designs are all beautiful works of art.
Must-Visit Place in Jeonju Hanok Village – Craft Masterpiece Street “Onnuri Crafts”
Next is “Onnuri Crafts,” a workshop operated by Yang In-sook, a master of traditional knots. This is a place where you can admire, purchase, and even participate in making various traditional knot crafts.
Aren’t the keyrings made from traditional knots simply wonderful?
Seeing the vibrant, colorful traditional knots on display makes me want to learn the craft myself.
The elaborate and diverse designs of the traditional knots at Onnuri Crafts truly feel like individual pieces of art.
Must-Visit Place in Jeonju Hanok Village – Traditional Tea House “Yedam Tea House”
Finally, I would like to introduce you to “Yedam Tea House,” a traditional tea house.
When you sit by the window at Yedam Tea House, you can enjoy a full view of Gyeonggijeon Shrine.
It is one of the best cafes in Jeonju Hanok Village, offering an amazing view.
Just seeing the rich Ssanghwa-tang (a traditional herbal tea) brewed here makes me feel stronger and healthier.
As you sit in Yedam Tea House, watching people pass by Gyeonggijeon Shrine, you will feel your mind clear and a sense of relaxation take over.
In October, with the Jeonju Festa happening, there will be even more things to see and enjoy.
If you visit Jeonju Hanok Village, I recommend walking through Craft Masterpiece Street to experience its peaceful atmosphere and explore the various artisan workshops or participate in their hands-on activities. I’ll conclude this post here.
