Lotuses Bloom at Jeonju Deokjin Park

Every summer the pink lotus buds bloom all over the lake in Deokjin Park. The view almost seems mysterious and holy. Take photos anywhere with the blooming lotuses, the result will be magnificent.

Deokjin Park has recently undergone a major refurbishment. The old steel bridge is removed, and a new bridge is installed.

Lotuses blooming in Deokjin Park

Lotus flowers are blooming all over the lake in Deokjin Park. Although wearing mask, people were busy taking photos of the flowers. It’s a small consolation in our life amidst the COVID-19 crisis.

The elegantly sweet scent of the lotus flowers is spreading through the cool summer breeze.

“Yeollin Jeongwon” garden

The refurbishment of Deokjin Park created a new garden, “Yeollin Jeongwon”. The city planted flowers and trees on the 1200㎡ wide wetland west to the main gate of the park.

It felt very comfortable walking on Yeollin Jeongwon’s stone-covered trail. While walking, I could get closer to the ducks on the lake and the blooming lotus flowers. I’m sure kids will love this garden.

Many traditional ceremonies and events will be held at Yeollin Jeongwon. Don’t miss visiting Deokjin Park for the blooming lotuses this summer!

Yeollin Jeongwon looks like a nice place to be on a warm summer’s day. And Deokjin Park would be an incredible date spot on a cool summer evening. I wonder if Deokjin Park is accessible at nighttime?

  • I miss Korea so much. I was usually there 4-5 times per year until COVID. I was in Jeonju in November 2018 and gave a speech for Dr. Yim’s veterinary students. Seeing photos of the lotus ponds reminds me that natural beauty cannot be stopped by this virus.
