“Exhibition of donations by the late Chairman Lee Kun-hee at the Jeonju National Museum.”
The Jeonju National Museum is currently displaying works donated by the late Chairman Lee Kun-hee of Samsung Group from August 12, 2024 (Monday) to December 1, 2024 (Sunday).
In 2021, the family donated about 20,000 artifacts to the National Museum of Korea.
All the registered items have been made available online.
Out of these, about 2,000 items with high historical value have been transferred to 10 national museums across the country.
Thanks to these transfers, these works can now be viewed in Jeonju.
This exhibition features 27 works by artists from North Jeolla Province.
An unknown artist’s Seunggeumjeongsihoe Painting Album has been in the National Museum of Korea since 1846.
The placement of the figures follows the layout of “Orchid Pavilion” by the Chinese artist Wang Xizhi.
This piece is significant because in 1846, Lee Si-jae, the governor of Jeolla Province, built Seunggeumjeong and Chwisajeong at Deokjin Pond.
At that time, he invited 48 scholars from Jeonju to a banquet and had painters create artwork.
The Jeonju National Museum is committed to being ‘a museum worth revisiting’ by regularly updating the exhibits in its permanent exhibition hall.
We recommend that you check out the various other artworks on display.
The “Treasure Hunt in Our Village” event is currently taking place on the first floor.
When you go up to the second-floor lobby, you can encounter Jeonju on a large screen.
The exceptional video quality continually draws people’s attention.
How did the royal court of Joseon and the old landscape of Jeonju come across to you?
Seeing how different it is from the present, does it make you curious about how Jeonju will change in the future?
As ‘Korean identity’ permeates our daily lives, cultural competitiveness emerges.
As the late Chairman Lee Kun-hee said, we hope that our traditional arts will infuse our lives, making each day more enriching.
